Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?
Our teacher showed us different kinds of flowers and told us in passing that those flowers came from her garden.
The writer of the story says he grew up in New York and mentions in passing that his parents came from Italy.
in passing = while talking about that subject; as extra information; also
We shall expect you; by the way, dinner will be at eight.
I was reading when the earthquake occurred, and, by the way, it was The Last Days of Pompeii that I was reading.
by the way = just as some added fact or news; as something else that I think of
