Is it correct to use the following sentence in the reply of a mail?
"In the wake of your mail, I want to discuss........"

Sure! You can say "in the wake of your mail...". I prefer: "In response to your mail..."

'In response to your mail' is also o.k. But"In the wake of your mail, I want to discuss........" would be more appropriate when it is followed by "I want to discuss........"

"in the wake of your mail...". is correct in this context.

I agree. "In the wake of..." doesn't seem at all appropriate here. Usually something happens in the wake of another happening (In the wake of the latest earthquake, thousands of people have been left homeless)

I would say:

In response to your email of [date], I would like to discuss...

In light of your recent email, I would like to discuss...

Further to your recent email, I want to discuss...

'In the wake' applies only to two successive happenings or events. It would be weird to apply it to a mail.

:up: If the mail was extremely destructive, it could also have an 'aftermath' - but the receiver wouldn't discuss it so much as duck and cover! ;-)

In a less frivolous vein, you could get rid of the prepositional phrase altogether, and say 'Your mail raises some issues/opportunities/problems... <any appropriate abstract noun> that I'd like to discuss.'
