-I'm a lot more patient with children than is my sister.

It's normally credit for, not of. Also, a person cannot be the precursor of a novel.
The other 2 sentences are grammatically correct, although the second one would normally miss out the "is" in common usage, and the third one would more normally be expressed as "A wild cat is sitting in front of the window".
