[General] Is it a typo? (offs)

Hello, everyone.

In Cambridge Dictionary Online, I read the following sentence:

He keeps missing the full stop offs the ends of his sentences.

I don't know what the offs mean.

In my opinion, I would say:

He keeps missing the full stop at the ends of his sentences.

What’s your opinion of this sentence?

The writer has got confused about where to put the "s". It should have read "He keeps missing the full stops off the ends of his sentences".

If you miss something off (in this context), it means the same as omitting it.

Unfortunately, online resources are not proofread as thoroughly as their printed versions.

Bummer. I thought the Online Cambridge Dictionary made a mistake (how refreshing!) but it is the English-Chinese translation dictionary that made the mistake.

Spell checks don't spot that sort of mistake as offs can be used in other contexts.
