Hi teachers!
We call a noun a naming word and an adjective a describing word (in children language).
Q: Do we call a verb a doing word or an acting word?
Q: What do we call an adverb?
Best regards!

I have certainly heard verbs described as 'doing words' in the UK. Although, such a decription can't cover all verbs. As to adverbs I don't believe I have heard anything similar being used to describe them. :)

Thanks a lot for your answer.
So you haven't heard verbs described as 'action word' or 'acting word'?

No, I can't say I have. At junior school teachers referred to them as 'doing words'.
