Or,

Regardless of whether you are reborn as an animal or a human, the key point is the karma that you have created.

The second sentence seems to imply that a person's karma will affect their parents' future lives and vice versa. Is that what you intended?

That's a complex relationship! In any case, use "life" instead of "lifetime" in that sentence.
