Is she worth it? Amy Winehouse, a fantastic singer or bad example? Or both?

I am listening to Back to black ...for the 15th time this evening....can't get away from her voice.

Is she worth it? She drinks, is high on stage, smokes crack, snifs....does all kind of drugs...

Should she be admired this much? Or should , especially young people, simply keep away from her?

I believe I even start liking her hairdo.......and I will go back to black...

Thousands of major artists have led dreadful lives; I can't see that it is of any relevance to how we see them as artists. There have been people who were drug addicts (Coleridge, De Quincy), killers (Caravaggio, Burroughs), arms dealers (Rimbaud), etc. An artist's creativity strikes me as far more important than their life.

If we didn't listen to modern music made by people who take or have taken drugs, there really would not be that much left. She's a messed up person, but you can enjoy her music without following her down the paths of her chaotic life IMO.

I read somewhere that she is a guitar player par excellence!

I agree, art and drugs and alcohol have gone hand in hand throughout the creative history.
