Is that a clear antecedent?

Hi,

Imagine you're the strictest grammarian ever. Then, is the following sentence correct?

The province's area is 1000 km[SUP]2[/SUP], and its population is 10,000 people.​

I'm pretty sure everyone will understand the sentence. But technically, its refers to the province while the construction of the sentence might suggest that its refers to the subject of the previous sentence, area. I'm not trying to be the "strictest among the strictest", but I want to know if those strictest grammarians would say the sentence is incorrect.
