See above. You don't generally "shake" workbenches so I wonder if you mean that they're not easily broken. If "degradation mechanisms" is a technical phrase, then it needs to be followed by "are" (mechanisms = plural). However, I have removed "mechanisms" as I assumed that you simply meant that granite does not degrade easily.
