Hello

I have been wondering if there is such a word to describe instances such as the following.

1) using a "smiley face" button as the button to start a nuclear war
2) using a happy tune/song as the background music for a horrible scene in a movie or TV show

Basically, using one thing to represent something that is completely opposite from the meaning or feeling of that one thing.

I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out if such a word exists. At first I thought of "ironic," but that just doesn't seem correct.

Thank you for your help.

I think "irony" is it.
irony: Use of word in a way that conveys a meaning opposite to its usual meaning
