Well...if it is about a valve, I would use the word "valve". "Mechanism" would work in your sentence, but why force the reader to guess what you are offering?

It's not a sentence, by the way. There's no verb, and your fragment could be either a subject or object.
Here are some sentences:
"This valve (subject) is (verb) the most reliable mechanism for applications with diameters from small to large"
"The most reliable mechanism for applications with diameters from small to large (subject) is (verb) the XYZ valve."
