It is (in) the custom for you to do it.

I think the sentence above means "It is customary for you to do it".

Is "It is (in) the custom for you to do it" properly constructed or should it be expressed as
"It is the custom for you to do it"?

The sentence was created by me.

I agree with you on the meaning of your sentence. The in is wrong. Leave it out.
