One more sentence I'm puzzled by. It was horrible being stuck on the train. (link) What kind of sticking is she talking about? Was the train overcrowded and she couldn't get off? Or something else?

GeneD - it's not possible to say why she was stuck on the train. Perhaps it had broken down. Perhaps it was just a really long journey. Perhaps there were delays on the line which made the journey take longer than expected.

I see. I shouldn't have taken it too literally. The funny part is, in Russian, we often put it the same way (figuratively), but, for some reason, I didn't understand the sentence until I read your examples. Thanks!
