You can avoid the problem by simply saying "as usual".

I know that this is conversational but I would rather not use abbreviations as much as possible unless they were previously defined.

One could ask: Does "AC" mean "air conditioner" or does it mean "alternating current"

Yes, you could say that the context would imply that the answer is "air conditioner". But why not remove all doubt and spell out the words?

Although the actual piece of equipment is called an "air conditioner", for me "AC" means "air conditioning". It's used as a noun in its own right, without needing something like "equipment" or "unit" at the end.

The AC isn't working = The air conditioning isn't working. (This is what I would say, for example, to the receptionist or maintenance person at a hotel if I wanted it fixed.)

There are probably more than two potential meanings of "AC" but the context given in your original post would lead most people to the conclusion that it means the air conditioning.
