It has a little hard to understand "I've had ...", what does that mean?

Thanks.

"I have had breakfast". What do you think that means?

"I have had breakfast". What do you think that means?

If using "eat" to express the meaning, I would say "I have eaten breakfast".

Right?

Right.

You're okay with other verbs in that tense, right?
I've eaten at this restaurant a couple times.
I've been to Paris twice.
I've seen this movie already, but it's good enough to see again.

So "I've had" is just another case of that with "to have" as the main verb.

I have a new kitten. I've had her for 3 weeks now.
I have a headache. I've had one off and for days.
I have a Pontiac Vibe. I've had it for 5 years.

I have a question Barb. Would most Americans say "I have eaten breakfast/lunch/dinner" or "I have had breakfast/lunch/dinner"? I and most BrE speakers (I think) would use "had".

Yes, I'd say "I've had breakfast."

I'd use "eaten" without the meal.
Would you like some lunch? No thanks, I've already eaten.
