I got an advertisement post for kickboxing-training class the other day. Interesting enough, the first requirement to take part in the class is neither "you need to be in a healthy condition" nor "you need to have genuine interest in sports". Guess what? It's "you must support the leadership of China Communist Party". Ridiculous? NO! It's the most common thing in People's Republic of China. Only in People's Republic of China, anything you're allowed to do--go to college, receive a degree, etc-- has to be connected with "supporting the leadership of Communist Party". Because, if you don't, then you are "people's enemy", who don't deserve the "rights". What the hell is that?

I have much more to say if I had a good enough command of English. If you don't like talking about politics and my post bothers you, I'm very sorry about that.

I got an advertisement through the post for a kickboxing training class the other day. Interestingly, the first requirement to take part in the class was not 'you need to be fit' nor 'you need to have a genuine interest in sport.

On the subject of politics, we tend to steer away from the subject as it can cause arguments, but try to balance that with the need for people to express themselves freely. ;-)

Thanks, tdol, for both your correction and notice(May I ask, is 'notice' the right word here?). I'll be cautious about anything that might cause arguments.

It would seem that a person's political affiliation would have nothing whatsoever to do with that person's participation in a sport.

Any dictatorial regime is threatened by independent thought and needs to have complete control of everything. At least, that is my theory. The Communist Party does not care about your fitness for kickboxing, but they do care about your loyalty. (Whether they deserve your loyalty is, perhaps, another question.)

(In Eastern European countries that were formerly part of the Soviet bloc you had to at least pretend to be a good Communist if you wanted to participate in Olympic sports. I suspect that the same is true of China.)

I must say CCP's agitprop works incredibly well. Every year around April,
when a US-proposed motion of human right abuses in China is defeated in UN, most people in China are very much 'excited', saying,'we defeat US's attempts to interfere with our country's internal affairs again'. A
Chinese saying perfectly describe this situation:"Counting the money for
those who sells you
".

Would that be something like the slave enthusiastically proclaiming how wonderful the slavemaster is?

(Say: "Counting the money for those who sell you.")

That seems somewhat akin to his statment about "useful idiots". Apparently, he regarded his allies in the West as dupes. Lenin said he was going to change human nature. That effort was a big failure.
