I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

Leo, a lathe operator, is called da Vinci by his colleagues because he is very skillful and makes products with great precision.

Can you replace "products" with something less generic?

This is where my weakness comes into play, the lack of vocabulary.

Could I say, "makes metal parts with great precision"?

Try "tools", "machine parts" or "fittings".
