What's the meaning of "let's do the A's and B's"?

An actress receives an screenplay from an old good friend who she doesn't work with for a very while. So it seems it doesn't matter the script is good or bad, and she says: "If he would have sent me the phone book I probably would have said: 'OK, let's do the A's and B's just to work with him again.? "

Thank You for your help :-D:up:

Here the a's and b's is to be taken literally as she is talking about a phone book. Let's take the letters a and the b....as a script.

In other words: anything to work with him again.
