I am translating some abstract of an academic article on .... well, the phenomena of physical likeness and the existence of a double or a lookalike -a lookalike as a mirror reflection, a portrait, a clon. And I don't know which word would be more approriate in this context: a double or a lookalike or maybe some other word I am not aware of? Please, help!

The word "double" would work well there.
