Hello,

My name is Els, (nickname Sophie) and I'd like to have an e-pal from a different country (I'm from Holland) 'cause I'm interested in other cultures. I also would like to practise my English in this way.

My e-mail: 302792@agnietencollege.nl

(a bit strange, but I'ts my e-mail at school)

Thanks in advance

They go to the same school. :)

While you can of course communicate via email, members of the forum can talk to each other by using PMs (private messages). I give (and get) advice that way more or less regularly.

Hi! Welcome!

I notice that you are from Belgium.

Bonjour Beeuurkes,

j'oubliais de regarder a cet forum, donc j'ai te demand de quelle langue tu parles. Mais peux tu aussi parler flamand?

(In English: I forgot to look at this forum, so I asked you what kind of language you speak. But can you also speak Flamish?)

I can't speak it very well, so if you have any comment on it, please tell me. You are the only one I know, here to correct me on my French.

But anyway:

Welcome :D

Hi Sanny,

I think there's a place on this forum where we can chat in an other language than English.
So, If you want to meet me there, that could be great fun...

Mijn Nederlands is afschuwelijk... maar wel...
Kan toch mijn best doen.

That would be the Other Languages folder. Go tohttps://www.usingenglish.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21.

Um, what is "Mijn Nederlands is afschuwelijk"?

:)

That simply means that I am not good at all in Dutch.

Ah, I understand now. :)

(We would use at instead of in there. Say: "I am not good at all at Dutch.")

What about "Kan toch mijn best doen"?

:)

Salut Sanny,

Am so happy that you've post back. Suppose you're at school now.
Your French wasn't bad at all. If you like, I will correct it for you.

J'ai oublié de regarder sur ce forum. Je te demande donc quelles langues parles-tu (or according what you meant : quelle est ta langue maternelle). Last sentence: OK.

If our teacher staff doesn't mind, maybe could I open a subtopic "French" in the topic "Other languages" where I could help you (or anyone willing to) further.

Kheb Nederlands op school geleerd.
I have learned Dutch at school

That's perfectly okay. That's what it's for.

I'd like to say hi to Beeuurkes, Sanny, Ronbee and the rest. erm..let me introduce myself first. I'm from Malaysia but I'm studying in Japan at the moment. Though English is not my first language, I have a great passion for it, somehow. Hope I can improve my English here. By the way, Ronbee, can you speak French as well?
curious......
