I found there's no discussions about songs here. Do you love old songs?
Like the Beatles?
:D

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go
I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
--The Beatles 'Yesterday'

I love this one...

The Beatles - I Will

Who knows how long I've loved you
You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to - I will.

For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same.

Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart.

And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me
Ah you know I will
I will...

Hello, Jamie!
So, you are from China, right?

I think now I'm much better. (A little sad before) :D

I love the Beatles of the 90's: OASIS
But I admire the Beatles, too, although I'm not a big supporter of their music. Their songs are pretty simple, but nevertheless they are clever.
My favorite Beatles song is "I am the walrus".:-D:cool:
And my second favorite is "You've got to hide you're love away".

Hi,

Yes, their songs are very simple. But the songs can make you recall many things in your past- happy or sad, love or be loved, success or failure.. I love the rhythm. And I also like another old band called 'CARPENTER'. The sound of the girl in the band, I think, is one of the most beautiful sound I've heard. (Another angel's sound is from Sarah Brightman.)

I am a big Beatles fan. I think they are very good for people learning English. You can start with songs that are very simple, like "Can't Buy Me Love," and learn more complex songs as you learn more English. For example, "Blackbird" and "Back in the USSR" don't make sense unless you know American culture very well.

I think this is also true of many famous musicians from the 1960s. Bob Dylan is a good example: A beginning English student could understand his song "Knockin' On Heaven's Door," which is a very famous and very beautiful song. His song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" is also very famous, but it is so fast and full of words that even native English speakers sometimes have trouble understanding it. (In fact, I think if someone can understand that whole song then they should stop studying English, because there can't be anything left for them to learn. :) )
