Hi,

Following is part of the lyrics in The Closing of the Year:

For nothing is more precious
than the time we have and so

We all must learn from small misfortunes
count the blessings that are real

Can you expain in a very easy way:
1. What is "the time we have" means?
2. What is "and so" means?
3. "count the blessings that are real" means "count the good things we have got"?

Thank you in advance.

1 The time 'we' (either as individuals or as a race) have as living people.
2 'and so' simply links the second two lines to the first two
3 I think you've got the meaning; maybe there's also a sense that we should only pay attention to real things (and not consider imaginary ones). But that sounds a bit cynical/calculating for this song - they probably used 'real' because they needed a rhyme (for something you haven't quoted).
