Hello, I would like to ask you about the meaning of the lyrics below, which are a part from a ELP song ″Still...you turn me on.″

You see it really doesn't matter
When you're buried in disguise
By the dark glass on your eyes
Though your flesh has crysrallised
Still...you turn me on

I don't see the meanings of the second and the third lines. Could someone explain the meanings or the situation of them? What do "disguise" and "dark glass" mean in this context?

Thank you in advance.

I remember someone else asked about the meaning of a certain song. The thing is song lyrics are almost always a euphemism for something else. It's close to impossible to know what the writer means unless he/she explains it.

It is almost impossible to understand the lyrics of any poetry, especially of rock songs.

This website discusses the song. According to them this is a song about the frustrations and sadness of being a rock star.

They feel this verse is about the rock star going out in public and having to wear a disguise and dark glasses. Your flesh being "crystallized" was being numb.

This is as good a guess as any in my opinion. They used "crystallized" as they needed a quasi-rhyming word for "disguise"

A euphemism. "Euphemism" begins with a consonant sound, so you shouldn't precede it with an.

I checked the website.
It helped me a lot.

Now I know where to go to ask about meanings of lyrics, and I won't ever ask this type of question here.

I hope I understood right what you mean with your father's wisdom.

Anyway, thank you very much.
