Hello Everyone,:)

As far as I know, the wall street is a term related to financial center and stock markets. And I would like to know the characteristics of main streets in the following paragraph?

"My experience is that Wall Street and Main Street are inextricably linked," he said. "We've reached the point in our financial system now where a community bank on Main Street has to have a correspondence with a major bank on Wall Street in order to keep things going, and that what happens in the banking system generally permeates down to the very lowest level."

Regards

In America, it's Main Street. In Britain, it's 'the High Street'.

The American "Main Street' says it like it is: for both, it is the generic way to refer to the main street of a town, the traditional site for most stores, banks, and other businesses, irrespective of what the actual name of the street is.
