make up a test

In the following sentence, does' make up a test' sound ok? Are there any grmmatical mistakes in the following sentences?

I could not find any materials for the upcoming grammar test because it is not a well-known( or a popular, common ) test here in my country, so to help my students to prepare for the test, I made up the test. That is I wrote the test.

"Made up a test" would be more likely. Probably "wrote a test" is best.

When a student misses class and has to take a test at a later date, we say they "made up" the test. So there could be some confusion.

In BrE, we only use "made up" for time generally so there wouldn't have been any confusion. Having said that, I would say "I created my own test".
