please help me grasp the meaning of this word:
(honours calibre)
nfire:
We might speak of someone's work being of a 'high calibre' and mean of a high standard. With 'honours calibre', although it's difficult to be certain without a context, I imagine that the meaning is similar, ie 'of a good enough standard to receive an honours', where 'honours', I expect, means an honours degree.
The sense could be the immediate ('This paper I'm marking is really good - it's definitely honours calibre') or the future ('His work his very good and I expect him to sail thorugh the exams - he's honours calibre, for sure!').
