I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Michael, a London cab driver, found himself at the centre of attention when he helped a young actress give a birth in his cab. Since then he got a nickname "Doc."

Young actresses give birth. It's a traumatic enough experience without introducing an extraneous article. :)

If you begin Since then, you need the present perfect has had.

He acquired a specific nickname; use the definite article.

I will repeat my sentence after GoesStation's corrections.

Since the present perfect form of to get means "has", the possessive sense of to have got doesn't work in that tense. I may be to blame for some quirks of English but this one is entirely not my fault. :) You'll have to use to have here.

Remove "at" before "the centre of attention".

End with "Since then, he has had the nickname Doc", "... has been known by the nickname Doc" or "... has been known as Doc".

I like:

Since then he has been known as Doc.
