I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Michael threw a stone in the lake and watched ripples spread out and disappear quickly on the surface. He thought his life would end in the similar way, leaving no traces or records.

Into the lake....
...the ripples....
...a similar way....

"Records" doesn't work for me at the end.

Could I use "marks" instead and write like this:
"leaving no traces or marks."

Yes. "Records" wasn't wrong, but it didn't feel right.

Perhaps end it with "... in a similar way, without a record or a trace."
