I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Michael was jerked awake by his dogs' frantic barking. He peered through the window and saw two darkly dressed figures prowling outside the fence.

Consider:

Michael awoke with a jerk at the sound of his dogs frantically barking.

They didn't jerk him, but they did wake him.

Clad might work better than dressed.
