If you ask non-Christian friends, “Do you believe there is hell in the next world?” they might perhaps say, “I don’t know."

The above are my own sentences.

Is 'perhaps' redundant?

"Perhaps" is redundant. The use of "might" suffices.

I don't find the question very natural with "in the next world". Wouldn't they just ask "Do you believe hell/Hell exists?"?

It's redundant, but it's the kind of thing you will hear people using when they want to suggest a very small chance.
