Dear teahcers,

Could you pls check for me if the sentence below is grammatically correct or not?

--> "The combination of all these potent feelings was extra-special to him as due to the so-called ‘first love’."

Also, I'm not sure if the usage of the word "was" as used in the sentence below is correct(or should we use "were"?)

--> "...the only thing that interested them was studying and studying alone."

That sentence is not correct. If I understand it correctly, it should be:

"The combination of all these potent feelings was extra-special to him as/beacuse she was his so-called ‘first love’."

Yes, "was" is correct.
