Hi,

The basic modals are:

can, could, may, might, must, ought to, should, would

Phrasal modals:

be able to, be going to, be supposed to, used to

I have probably missed a few.

There are some some that can be modals, but not always, like 'need' and 'dare', and some we hardly ever use, 'gainsay'.;-)
