Dear teachers,

Please read the sentence:
Nothing has more impact in the family than making and keeping promises.

My question is: Can I use "than make and keep promises"?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.

Hi jiang

The structure requires a verbal-nominal (i.e., a gerund or a to-infintive). But only the gerund works here:
Ex: Nothing has more impact in/on the family than making and keeping promises. :tick:

Ex: Nothing has more impact in/on the family than to make and keep promises. :cross:
:-D;-)

Hi Soup,
When would "to-infinite" work in this type of structure? Could you give an example, please?

Sorry. I don't understand what you mean by 'this type'?

Hi,

Thank you very much for your explanation. Now I see.

Have a nice weekend.

I probably got your comment wrong buut I will try to ask again.
When would to-infinite work in the structure?

Oh, I see what you're asking. The to-infinitive wouldn't work in that sentence (i.e., structure).
