We say someone pays us a visit. But can we say "My friend pays me visits" or "My friend pays me visits every now and then"?

Re: My friend pays me visits" or "My friend pays me visits every now and then

It's not natural to use the plural. Even if your friend comes more than once, stick with the singular and the set phrase.

My friend pays me a visit every now and then.
My friend paid me a visit yesterday.
My friend paid me a visit six times last week!

Bear in mind that most native speakers would just use "My friend visits/visited ...".
