Hi,

''I am 35 and I am still living with (my) parents.''

I'd like to ask if 'my' is necessary or not?

Thanks.

Necessary for what? It's probably not completely necessary for you to be understood but the sentence is better with it included.

I would say it's necessary. Not only is the sentence (in my opinion) grammatically incorrect without it, the use of "my" also ensures that the listener/reader knows that you're not living with someone else's parents.

However, I agree with jutfrank that your sentence would be understood without "my" but I would add that it would mark you out as a non-native speaker of English.

I would say "my" is necessary. It sounds like something is missing if you leave that out.

I agree that it is necessary to include "my" in this sentence.
