i would like to know whether there are specific names for the following three grading systems:

(1) Highest on scale: 100; lowest on scale:0 (is this called 'percentage grading')
(2) Highest on scale: A; lowest on scale: E
(3) Pass/ Non-pass

Thank you for your help! :)

The first is called percentage grading, but I don't know of terms for the others. ;-)

The second is called letter grades, and the third is pass/fail.

Thanks- most of the exams I teach are graded A-E, but I've never actually heard the term used. ;-)

Whatever happened to F? We didn't have E when I was going to school. It was A, B, C, D, F.

F is still used in some exams, but others use D as a close fail and then just lump the rest together. ;-)
