Yesterday I went to a bank taking out some money, but I was very embarrassed , that resulted from a question. I didn't even know how to ask a question ? I wanted to know : withdraw how much do I need to inform you ahead of time ? (you have to give a notice ahead of time to the bank if you want to withdraw a large amount of money) .

so could you please tell me a idiomatic expression for that meaning ?

by the way, what made me feel upset is I have been learning how to express my self , but I still didn't know how to ask a simple question.

thank you !

Perhaps:
  • I want to withdraw some money.
Or:
  • I want to withdraw $XX.

Is that what you had in mind?

:)

I had the samilar experience once , if I understand you correctly , you wanted to know how to ask the teller something like "For how much money do I need to give you notice before I withdraw them ? " just a guess

You could change the question and make it clearer and less cumbersome:

'When would I need to give notice before making a withdrawal?'
'If you're taking out $xxxx, sir\madam.'

;-)

How about:
  • How far in advance do I need to give notice before making a withdrawal?

:)
