Hi there,

There is a rule for the usage of superlative in grammar books:

1) the ____est + noun (the highest mountain was left behind)
2) noun + ______est (the mountain, which was highest, was left behind)

- The UK had the highest rate of unemployment.
- The unemployment rate was highest in the UK.

If these sentences correct, then what do you think about the one below:

The Los Angeles network is the newest, having opened in 2001, while the Kyoto network is the smallest and serves only 45 million passengers per year.

I am not able to get the right answer for this rule. Please, help!

How do you leave a mountain behind? I've left my keys behind, or my purse, and even my cat once, but I'm pretty sure I've never accidentally forgotten to take a mountain with me.

You have obviously led a very sheltered life.
