what if there are more than one person as in tom ,dick nor harry played well

No, neither...nor doesn't work with more than two, though people try it occasionally.

You can use it this way: Neither Tom nor Dick nor Harry played well.

And of course, you can use James didn't play football nor did Harry.

I also find that your original form did exist, but is now 'archaic', as is Nor James nor Harry played well.

Just as i thought in fact "archaic" is exactly the word i had in mind but i've found it in many novels by say...enid blyton and so on..so i don't consider it outdated...i think ill just continue using it.....by the way could u look in at my other post PAST IN FUTURE ....i'd appreciate any help you could offer in this particular area of concern...wow boy do i sound stuck up!!!!
