I like her, not because she is pretty, but because she has a nice personality.

Can we apply this structure to such a sentence as the following?

-You have to study English, not just when you are at school, when you even watch Tv.

I am aware that it may seem a little strange, but I would like to know if the structure is understandable or not.

Don't forget the "but" part of the structure.
