Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?
He had, however, less intention even than before of moving for a meeting of the shareholders… No. Nothing doing – as they said nowadays.
nothing doing = nix of that
Jim asked Dad to help pay for the repairs, but Dad said no soap.
no soup = no, certainly not; also, impossible
We tried to rent the church for the wedding, but it's no go for the date you picked.
no go = no soup
Anthony wanted to borrow my new coat, but Mom said no dice.
no dice = no go
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
