Hi,

What does "number" and "countability" mean here?

Explain the number and countability of nouns in English.

It may be worth pointing out that some "uncountable" nouns are actually used in the singular to mean one "unit" of them. This often confuses learners who have been taught you can't say "one flour" or "one coffee."

One sugar or two? (Refers to lumps of sugar)
One coffee, one Diet Coke, and two lemonades please? (Refers to one cup of coffee, one glass of Diet Coke, etc.)
Hey, could you stop by the bakery and pick up a bread? Another like that crispy one we got from there last week? (Refers to a loaf of bread)
