Hi,

I'm writing my Thesis and I need a bit of assitance with this one. If I have decided to write all numbers less than 10 as text, should I apply this to these cases as well?

1. "On the other hand, subset number 9 was ..."
2. "...increase the probability of belonging to group 1..."
3. "...uses a total of 59 variables of which 7 are... "
4. "X was able to reduce the number of variables from 99 to 7 without... "
5. "A computer with 4 Gb of available memory"
6. "Begin a new round from step 3"

Thanks!

I wouldn't. These are names. In fact, "subset number 9" sounds wrong. It should be "subset 9".
If you had a step 3aii, would you call it "step three a two"?

One the other hand, your items 3 and 4 contains numbers, not names. (Note: not "items three and four"). So, consistent with your chosen style, they should be spelled out - 'seven'.
