When do we write "of" and "to" after afraid? I will write two sentences bellow. Would you please help me to understand the differences here? Thank you.

1.)I am afraid of driving.

2.)Don't be afraid to use the dictionary.

Is it correct to write "of" in the second sentence?

"Don't be afraid of using the dictionary."?

You are on the right track.
In 1. you could also say 'I am afraid to drive'.
In 2. you are right both times.

You might be afraid of bats, tigers, being in the dark.
You might be afraid to drink alcohol, dive from a high board, go out at night.
