OK to start paragraph with "Then"?

Is it okay to start a paragraph with "Then"? Any other comments about this passage?


"When chronic and debilitating headaches invaded my life, I was devastated. Medical testing offered no answers and a year later, my emotional pain became more turbulent than the physical pain. The turning point came when...(continued)

Then as promised, an inspired doctor figured out how to absolve the headache triggers, relieving my pain for the first time in 4 ½ years. (continued)"

Yes, you can.

In the first paragraph, omit the comma after "a year later" - or put commas before and after the phrase.

In the second paragraph, a comma after "Then" would be better.

Not "absolve" which means to release or to forgive - "eradicate" would do in this context.
