Hi,

1. He was caught on trying to break the door of the car.
2. He was caught while trying to break the door of the car.

Are both of them correct?

Thanks.

The first is not.

The second is grammatically acceptable, though I have never heard of anyone trying to 'break' a car door.

Does 'break a car door' sound unnatural? If it is unnatural, what should I say?
