Let's say Mary is the name of the island where I'm living.

Shall I say;

1. I'm living on Mary Island.
2. I'm living in Mary Island.

Thanks.

The usual guideline is to use in if the island is an independent nation, such as Cyprus, Iceland and Samoa, and on if it isn't, such as Majorca, Tenerife and Long Island.

There will be many exceptions, such as Tasmania - an Australian state.
