Number three is correct.

It means that it is not wise to try to make everyone like you, so you really should not try. You will only be discouraged.

Just do your best and some people will like it. Hopefully a lot of people will like it, but never hope or think that all people will like it.

It reminds me of this.

"You can please some of the people some times, but you can't please all of the people all the time."

Thank you for your reply, sir, but I have known that an article "the" in front an adjective is a plural noun such as "forum of the poor/The rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Is it correct or not? If it is so Why the "Only the fool pleases all" is not "Only the fool please all". Or I am probbaly wrong with that common noun formed with "the and adjective", please help clarify it.

"fool" - This is a singular noun - A singular noun takes a singular verb form. This noun replaces the pronouns "he" or "she". This noun therefore requires a third person singular verb form. This verb form ends with "s". It is not plural. A plural verb form in the simple present does not end with "s".

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

In this sentence it is understood that we are talking about the "rich people" and the "poor people". This makes it so we have to use the plural verb form.

We are using "rich" and "poor", which are adjectives, as nouns. It is, of course, understood that there is more than one rich person and more than one poor person.

rich people - adjective modifying a noun

poor people - adjective modifying a noun

The poor - This is an adjective used as a noun.

These are adjectival nouns.

In my opinion, it should probably be: "Only a fool tries to please everybody."
