What do you call the ornamentations and the decorations

that are usually put on the Christmas tree?

The generic term "Christmas decorations" describes all the various frills displayed during the holiday season in AmE. More specific terms are ornaments, meaning the various fragile hanging decorationshung on tiny hooks on the tree. We call the shiny silver threads strung on the branches of the tree tinsel. A stocking is an oversized sock that is hung up and eventually (hopefully!) filled with small presents. :x-mas:
