My original answer is (4), another. But someone affirmed that it was (2), other.

You were right with your original answer. Only "another" works there. Who told you "other" was correct? It could only be used with the definite article before it, and if there had been only two watches in the first place.

(There are two watches available.)
"I don't like this watch. Can you show me the other one?"
